Born in 1897, Frances is the third of the author's six children. The memoir provides an immersive insight into the Putnam family's experiences, capturing the warmth of their family life in late 19th-century Boston and their idyllic summers on the shores of Cotuit. The author's portrayal of her daughter's childhood reveals Frances as a vibrant and precocious spirit, full of laughter and charm. Through the author's charmingly detailed journal entries, letters to family members, and her daughter's own amusing notes, this memoir offers a fascinating window into the era. Alongside her chronicles of Frances's milestones and adventures, the author also divulges family anecdotes and daily life within their circle of friends and extended family members. The narrative is rich with affectionate remembrances of the author's father, Francis Cabot, a prominent figure in Boston society who later became totally blind. Touching upon themes of love, joy, and resilience, this memoir ultimately paints an unforgettable portrait of Frances's early life, her deep bond with her family, and her development into a remarkable young woman. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
