"Er unterrichtete dort Klavier und Partiturspiel am Sternschen Konservatorium, wurde Senatsmitglied in der Akademie der Künste und stellvertretender Präsident der Genossenschaft deutscher Tonsetzer. Rüfer komponierte Orchesterstücke, Kammermusik sowie die Opern 'Merlin' (1887) und 'Ingo' (1896) (DBE). - Auf Briefpapier mit gepr. Monogramm.
