Aggiungi al carrelloSystematic, bed-by-bed excavations for macrofossils which were carried out in the northern Switzerland from 1970 through 1974 provided a great number of perisphinctids from the type Transversarium Zone. 1179 specimens out of this material were prepared. The greater part of the prepared specimens has been measured. 241 of the mea…sured perispinctides were studied in detail with the aim to produce taxonomical units at the species level that can be used in time stratigraphy. The consequence of this procedure was that 56 formal perisphinctid species are described here, 23 of which are new to science. One new genus, Eoataxioceras, is proposed. There is a pronounced provincial differentiation between the ammonite faunas in England and Switzerland, but enough taxa are represented in both faunal provinces to ensure a detailed correlation at the subzone level. 171 pp., 229 figs, hc folio.
