Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. An architectural investigation of the Danish good life. How have spatial changes affected the welfare experiences of citizens? What happens when long-standing institutions are restructured, dismantled or displaced elsewhere? How do emerging types of welfare space inform-or become informed by-shifting conceptions of the role the welfare system plays in our everyday lives? This volume seeks to address these pressing questions and more. Using Denmark as a case study, the book traces spatial transformations in the country's welfare system, from the end of the so-called golden age of the welfare state in the early 1970s to today. Architectures of Dismantling and Restructuring adopts a clear-eyed, nuanced perspective toward welfare and the good life, investigating the consequences of Denmark's neoliberal turn and other significant sociopolitical changes. A rich analytical sequence of drawn visualizations supplements the book's textual and photographic descriptions. AUTHORS: Deane Simpson is an architect and urban studies expert who teaches at the Royal Danish Academy School of Architecture Copenhagen and at BAS Bergen, where he is professor of architecture and urbanism. Kirsten Marie Raahauge is an anthropologist teaching at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, where she is professor with special duties. She is the project lead of Spaces of Danish Welfare and the head of the Center for Interior Studies. Her field of research is spatial anthropologies. She has been performing as a coeditor and an author of several publications within that field, e.g. Forming Welfare (2017) and The Design Concept (2016). Katrine Lotz is an architect, associate professor and Head of Department at Institute of Architecture, Urbanism & Landscape at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. Her main research interest is the changing relations between architecture, urbanism and society, with a particular focus on the Nordic welfare states. She has published, co-edited and participated in the public debate within that area, e.g. as a co-editor of Forming Welfare (2017). 598 illustrations Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: As New. First Edition. Fine-looking, structurally sound hardcover, little discernible wear to the glossy pictorial cloth over boards, bright interior, unmarked, clean. From the publisher's blurb, "Fine-looking, structurally sound hardcover, little discernible wear to the glossy pictorial cloth over boards, bright interior, unmarked. Einar Lund Jensen, Kristine Raahauge and Hans Christian Gullov have edited a fine survey of Cape Farewell featuring East Greenlandic immigrants and the German Moravian Mission in 19th-century contacts. From the publisher's blurb, "Cultural Encounters at Cape Farewell offers a comprehensive account of the cultural history of the Cape Farewell area in the 19th century. The dominating factor in this history was the immigration of people to the area from Southeast Greenland. There are no written sources originating from these immigrants, as they could neither read nor write, so the descriptions presented of the immigration are primarily based on material from the Danish colonial authorities and the German Moravian mission. Although one-sided and reflecting a European view and conception of the world, the sources contain valuable information, which pieced together, give a clear picture of the East Greenlandic immigration to the Cape Farewell area at the time, and of the society which arose in the wake of this immigration. The volume includes accounts of the immigrants themselves which have been passed down from generation to generation - accounts or tales of life in Southeast Greenland which have been told, retold and used in various historical contexts, and still make up an important part of the local historical tradition, just as they contribute to giving the population of the southernmost part of Greenland their own identity in the face of rapid changes brought about by colonization. The present book, drawing on informative archival material and presenting a rich volume of illustrations, gives for the first time a collected synthesis of the history of the population in the Cape Farewell area in the 19th century." Contributions by the three editors and H.C. Gullov, E.L. Jensen, E.L. Jensen, E.L. Jensen, K. Raahauge and E.L. Jensen, K. Raahauge and H.C. Gullov. Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. [9], 10-339 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
