Also known as 'Erzahlung', this work follows a water spirit named Undine who marries a knight in order to gain a soul. Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was one of the foremost illustrators of the Golden Age of British book illustration. Translated from German into English by William Leonard Courtney (1850-1928), an English author, philosopher, and journalist. First published in German in 1811, Undine became Fouque"s most celebrated work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart.
