To this end, an initial retrospective study was carried out on samples from sheep taken between 1997 and 1999. These samples were tested using ELISA. We then set out to identify the main viral serotypes responsible for BTV infections in our country. To this end, more recent samples from cattle and sheep (from 2006 to 2012) were analysed using ELISA, and some of these were also tested using seroneutralisation and real-time PCR. Our results confirm what has been reported regarding the introduction of BTV into Tunisia in 1999. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that three BTV serotypes circulate in the country: BTV1, BTV2 and BTV4, with BTV4 predominating throughout the period from 2006 to 2012. Furthermore, co-infections involving two viral serotypes were identified. The molecular results show a strong correlation with those obtained using serological techniques. Anschliessend haben wir uns zum Ziel gesetzt, die wichtigsten Virusserotypen zu bestimmen, die fuer BTV-Infektionen in unserem Land verantwortlich sind. Zu diesem Zweck wurden neuere Proben von Rindern und Schafen (aus den Jahren 2006 bis 2012) mittels ELISA untersucht, einige davon zusaetzlich mittels Seroneutralisation und Echtzeit-PCR. Unsere Ergebnisse bestaetigen die bisherigen Erkenntnisse ueber das Auftreten des BTV in Tunesien im Jahr 1999. Darueber hinaus konnten wir nachweisen, dass drei Serotypen des BTV im Land zirkulieren: BTV1, BTV2 und BTV4, wobei BTV4 im gesamten Zeitraum von 2006 bis 2012 vorherrschte. A tal fine, e stato condotto un primo studio retrospettivo su campioni prelevati da ovini nel periodo compreso tra il 1997 e il 1999. Tali campioni sono stati analizzati mediante ELISA. Successivamente, ci siamo proposti di determinare i principali sierotipi virali all'origine delle infezioni da BTV nel nostro Paese. A tal fine, sono stati analizzati mediante ELISA campioni piu recenti prelevati da bovini e ovini (dal 2006 al 2012) e, per alcuni di essi, sono stati effettuati test di sieroneutralizzazione e PCR in tempo reale.
