Woodward went to Paletsine, Sinai and Egypt in 1878-79 to record the places and people he ecountered in his travels in his sensitive drawings as well as in his notebooks for publisher D. Appleton & Co. His drawings first appeared in the USA in an 1881 Appleton 2 volume edition of "Picturesque Palestine." This 2024 edition of "Picturesque Palestine." was printed in an edition of 750 copies in Singapore for the publisher and is focused on Woodward the artist and includes information on his life and excerpts from this letters on the journey as well as his illustrations. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. Lacks the original dust jacket.; B&W & Color Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 191 pages.
