Crisp, clean pages; full cloth hard cover shows only very light wear at spine ends; the dust jacket has a short, open tear at the bottom front, thin lines of wear along verticals, a few small, scattered surface scuffs, and some tiny edge tears with creasing at the top rear, but is otherwise sound, now protected in a clear sleeve.; Signed by Author.

Cover has been encased in a library mylar sleeve, protecting it from damage; only bottom right front cover corner shows some bumping. Limited edition run of 400 copies.

Handsome, tight first edition of this poet's second verse collection, nicely inscribed (not signed) by Ratzlaff in black ballpoint on title page: He crosses off his printed name and pens below it -- "Bill -- With admiration / for your haiku -- and / the fabulous teacher you / must be to have students / write like they do / UNI / 10/28/00." Recipient "Bill" is Bill Pauly (1942-2021), a poet especially known for haikus and long-time English professor at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.

First edition. This elegant presentation of three poems "to celebrate a new life in the New Year" was printed (letterpress) at the University of Nebraska, limited to 235 copies (this is number 79). This copy belonged to the noted Californian book artist D. Steven Corey and has his neat, press-formed bookplate on the first French fold of the wraps. A gem.
