Hardcover. Condizione: As New. 1st Edition. Finnish artist Bo Haglund (b. 1963) combines comic art, graphic design, and stagecraft with visual art. He began his career in the 1980s as a set designer for theater and film productions, and later worked on textile designs for Marimekko and cartoons for Ny Tid magazine. Eventually, h…e transitioned from stage design and graphic work into visual art through comics. Haglund's diverse background is reflected in his work, which blends multidimensional emotional landscapes, narrative storytelling, observations of contemporary life, and richly detailed expression. His visually inviting and approachable pieces draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including the performative nature of social media, comics that comment on art history, and Nordic melancholy. In his most recent works, human figures appear hidden within theatrical settings or among vegetation, sometimes fleeing, in transitional spaces, observing, or simply bewildered. The book engages in a dialogue with Haglund's recent work and his multifaceted artistic career. Text in Finnish, Swedish and English. 167 pp.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Text in Finnish and English. Publication for an exhibition held at Galleria Heino, Helsinki, in 5.5.-29.5.2011. Contains quality full-page photographs of the works. The sculptor Kimmo Pyykkö's exhibition featured his new bronze sculptures - which bring out the spirit of his famous a…luminum works from the 1970s - as well as sculptures made of alder wood and wall reliefs. The bronze sculptures of Pyykkö are still lifes. They contain objects and animals such as ravens, hawks, small birds and butterflies. He uses a lot of recycled material, such as old chairs, beds, shoes, gloves, brushes, musical instruments and bags. Pyykkö's sculptures are carefully constructed entities, the sums of their symbolic parts, in which the parts refer to each other. The old items used already contain memories in themselves; they have traces of people. Pyykkö gives these items a new spirit. When they are cast in bronze and the works get a uniform patina, the temporal seems to become timeless, the substance intangible and the present here a thing of the past. *** Some noticeable scratches to the surface of the spine, otherwise in very nice condition. 175 pp.
