[2],408 lvs. (Opera iuridica rariora, 1). 31 cm. - As a jurist, Jacques de Révigny (latinized as Jacobus de Ravanis (ca. 1230-1296)) was a critic of the customary law in force in the northern provinces of France and a proponent of Roman law, imported at the time from the prestigious University of Bologna. Along with Pierre de Belleperche, he was one of the leading French commentators on the Corpus Juris Civilis. His brilliant teaching brought about a methodological renewal that, in the history of medieval law, marked the transition between the glossators of Bologna and the post-glossators of Orléans. He was forgotten in later periods, his works being printed in the 16th century under the names of Pierre de Belleperche (-1308) and Bartolus. His principal legacy consists of his nearly 150 Repetitions covering the entire Corpus Juris Civilis. The Repetitio is the new genre of teaching in which his contribution (spirit of synthesis, in-depth analysis) to legal education is expressed. Condition : very good copy. Keywords : RECHT, *2006-100 roman law.
