Vintage portrait photograph of actor Charles Lang by photographer Ray Jones, 1941, with two studio stamps on the verso, one crediting photographer Jones and one noting Lang in Universal Pictures. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pic…tures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Stage and screen actor and screenwriter Charles Lang appeared in 25 films from 1940 to 1950, and in the 1950s began screenwriting, and was the screenwriter for nine feature films from 1950 to 1960, as well as being a television screenwriter through the 1960s. Some of his best known acting performances include his premiere in "One Crowded Night" (1940), as well as "Keep "Em Flying" (1941), "Never Give a Sucker an Even Break" (1941), and "Wildcat Bus" (1940). He is also noted as being the screenwriter for "The Magnificent Matador" (1955) and "Decision at Sundown" (1957), as well as writing episodes for the television series "Cheyenne," "Perry Mason," "Bonanza," and "The High Chaparral." 8 x 10 inches. Vintage borderless photograph of Ray Charles at the organ, performing at the Palais des Sports in October of 1961. Agence Dalmas stamp on the verso. Charles gave a series of seven concerts at the Palais des Sports between October 20 and October 24, 1961, following performances in Zurich and Leon on the 18th and 19th, respectivel…y. The shows, along with a leading act at the Antibes Jazz Festival in July of that same year, marked a significant turning point in Charles' career, and cemented his status as one of the best-loved American jazz musicians in western Europe. From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969. 10.75 x 8.25 inches, archivally mounted in a white mat measuring 18 x 14 inches. Revised First Draft script for the 1979 television special, which originally aired in 1979 on CBS. Working copy belonging to crew member Selig "Pinky" Frank, with his manuscript pencil annotations throughout. Bound in before the script are several production documents, many with Frank's manuscript ink and pencil annotations, inc…luding several shooting schedules, cast and crew lists and contact information, and a brief performance rundown. An hourlong country music special hosted by Kris Kristofferson, held in memory of folk music legend Maybelle Carter, who sang with her sister-in-law Sara Carter and Sara's husband A.P. Carter as The Carter Family. All three were born and raised in southwest Virginia, and were the first vocal group to become country music stars. Maybelle Carter's distinctive method of playing guitar, known as the "Carter Scratch," became a hallmark of the group's style, and was widely copied in later roots, gospel, bluegrass, and country music. Housed in a brown titled three-ring binder noted as MASTER, with the name of Selig Frank on the bottom right corner. Yellow titled wrappers. Title page present, noted as REVISED FIRST DRAFT, dated 6/27/79. 91 leaves, with last page of text numbered 77. Xerographic duplication, rectos only, with rainbow revision pages throughout, dated variously between 6/28/79 and 7/11/79. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Near Fine.

Two vintage photographs of Charles Winninger, a double weight portrait photograph, and a montage portrait photograph of four of Winninger's expressions, both by photographer Ray Jones, circa late 1930s. Beloved stage and screen actor Charles Winninger began his career as a vaudevillian and in comedy shorts in the 1910s, before becoming a sensation in the original 1927 Broadway production of "Show Boat" as Cap'n Andy Hawks, the role he became identified with throughout his career. By the advent of talkies, Winninger quickly became a prolific actor in comedies and musicals, and from 1915 until 1960 Winninger would appear in over 65 films, including "Night Nurse" (1931), "Show Boat" (1936), "Three Smart Girls" (1936), "Nothing Sacred" (1937), "Destry Rides Again" (1939), "Ziegfeld Girl" (1941), and "State Fair" (1945). 7.5 x 9.5 inches and 8 x 10 inches. Vintage satin-finish photograph of actor and producer Charles Ray holding a cake in honor of the second anniversary of his production company, Charles Ray Productions, circa 1922. A successful silent film actor through the late 1910s, Charles Ray was usually cast in unsophisticated, "country boy" roles, frequently working with t…he Thomas Ince Studio. Ray founded his production company in 1920, purchasing a studio on Sunset Boulevard, in hopes of creating films that would broaden his image. The company would declare bankruptcy after the failure of "The Courtship of Miles Standish" in 1923. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, lightly toned and curled.

A collection of nine vintage, borderless photographs, four oversize, of Ray Charles in Paris, October 1968. All five of the smaller photographs have stamps of photographer Araldo Crollalanza on the verso, four with have Italian mimeo snipes. All four oversize photographs have stamps of photographer Crollalanza and press agency I…nter-Prensa on the verso. Charles performed two spectacular shows at La Salle Pleyel in Paris on October 8th and 9th, 1968. The October 8th concert was televised by the Office de Radiodiffusion-Television Francaise (ORTF) and the October 9th concert broadcast by radio station Europe-1.
