Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book's contents include an inspirational speech encouraging young British men to join the armed forces in response to the First World War. The author, whose identity is unknown, begins with a powerful poem urging the reader to fight for the freedom of their country and be part of a great adventure. A message from Lord Kitchener outlines the need for more recruits and clarifies the conditions of service for joining up. There are additional insights from various men on the reasons they have joined the fight. The book provides an insight into the ideas, themes, and opinions that circulated in the build-up to the Great War. The motivations and hopes of Lord Kitchener, the author, and the various contributors reveal a powerful sense of patriotism at that time. It is an effective embodiment of the WWI propaganda machine in action, reflecting the emotions, political rhetoric, and military strategies of the period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Neuware - 'The Worshipful Company of Grocers, an Historical Retrospect, 1345-1923' is a comprehensive historical account of one of the City of London's most prestigious and ancient livery companies.
