Da das Kloster Ettal 1744 durch eine Feuersbrunst zerstört ward, nahm der Abt Leonhard zu Benediktbeuern die Ettaler Geistliche bis zur Wiederherstellung ihrer Gebäude sehr gerne auf. Während dieser Zeit unterrichtete Marcellin Reischl die jüngern Geistliche aus beyden Klöstern in der Theologie, ward nach seiner Zurückkunft in Ettal Novitzenmeister, und Director fratum, und starb am 30.
