Der Blick in die nahe Zukunft erfolgt durch genauere Betrachtung der Instrumente, welche heute mit dem Ziel einer Realisierung der ökologischen Wende angewendet werden. Paechs Argumentation über die Unmöglichkeit einer Entkopplung geht seinem Entwurf einer 'Postwachstumsökonomie' voraus. In diesem skizziert er den Weg zu einer wachstumslosen Wirtschaft sowie deren Erscheinungsbild. Aus der Fragestellung soll eine Aussage über die ökologische Notwendigkeit einer wachstumslosen Wirtschaft und damit auch über die ökologische Notwendigkeit der Postwachstumsökonomie folgen, welche dieser Arbeit als konkretes, stellvertretendes Konzept für eine Wirtschaft ohne Wachstum dienen soll. War die Entkopplung möglich oder wird sie dies voraussichtlich in naher Zukunft sein, so soll weiteres Wachstum als nicht problematisch und eine Wirtschaft ohne Wachstum bzw. eine Postwachstumsökonomie als ökologisch nicht notwendig gelten. Im gegensätzlichen Fall gelte die beschriebene Schlussfolgerung in invertierter Form. Die Arbeit soll klären, ob bisher gewählte Maßnahmen in der Lage waren, die ökologische Wende einzuleiten bzw. ob sie dazu in naher Zukunft in der Lage sein könnten oder ob eine Wende einzig über nachhaltige Lebensstile und eine Wirtschaft ohne Wachstum zu erreichen ist.…
