Toch stortte de Belgische kunstenaar, die wereldwijde faam genoot met zijn affiches en schilderijen, zich begin jaren 1990 resoluut op de beeldhouwkunst. Hij maakte zowel rechtstreeks uit steen gehouwen beelden als bronzen werken op basis van een gietvorm. Aangemoedigd door zijn vriend C sar maakte hij zo in totaal bijna 400 bronzen en stenen beelden. Folons beelden vallen op door hun frontale aspect en werden sterk be nvloed door de primitieve kunsten - van de Cycladische tot de Etruskische kunst over Afrikaanse maskers en indiaanse totems. Net als in zijn grafische werk, is de mens ook in zijn beeldhouwwerken een van zijn belangrijkste thema's. Ze zorgen er bovendien voor dat het universum van de kunstenaar in een natuurlijke omgeving geprojecteerd wordt: landschappen, tuinen, parken.
