He went on to become a labor organizer for the CIO and the OCAW. He subsequently served in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as White House Liaison Officer and Assistant to the Secretary, where he was instrumental in advancing Lyndon Johnson's Great Society agenda, including passage of the Fair Housing Act [and more].
