Written for the Massachusetts Sabbath School Society by a Christian Missionary at Madras, India. Describes the Indian people as barbaric and savage, with brutal customs and little regard for human life. Illustrated with engravings showing some of these horrors, and a plate with The Lord's Prayer in the Tamul [Tamil] language. Brown cloth with gilt spine lettering, 120 pages. Worn copy with church school sticker on front cover (from Prescott, Massachusetts, which now lies beneath Quabbin Reservoir), insect damage to a portion of the front joint, heavily but legible throughout with additional dampstains, additional name of the Sabbath School in Turner's Falls inside front cover. .
