CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The author served in both the 55th and 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiments. The 55th Ohio Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp McClellan in Norwalk, Ohio September through December 1861 and mustered in for three years' service on January 25, 1862 . The 55th was attached to Schenck's Brigade, Railroad District, West Virginia, to March 1862. While a member of the 64th OVI, the regiment served in the Atlanta Campaign and the Franklin-Nashville Campaign. The 55th Ohio is recognized as one of the FOX 300 Fighting regiments. REFERENCES: DORNBUSCH OH 269; NEVINS I pg 116 "This conglomeration of tales and incidents is too manufactured to be accepted without reservation."
