Later (20th-c.) rebinding of full pebble-grained morocco; title stamped in gilt on spine; 151pp. Tight and clean; Very Good copy in a serviceable but not especially aesthetic modern binding. A casual account of Godman's walks through nature, originally published serially in the Philadelphia Quaker journal The Friend. Godman's text is preceded by a memoir (uncredited) of the author by Daniel Drake, under whom Godman practiced at the Medical College of Ohio. Text concludes with a very brief account (also extracted from The Friend) by Dr. Reynell Coates of his 1823 voyage to India as a ship's surgeon, during which he collected many entomological specimens.
