E delineano una doppia frontiera della musica dei semplici, quella dei mondi nuovi e dei suoni della conversione delle genti ignare di Cristo, e quella europea, delle genti più misere alle quali si indirizzano laudi, orazioni cantillate, canzoncine spirituali e con esse le regole del vivere cristiano. In questo contesto di sensibilità e di strategia prende forma ad esempio il canto Tu scendi dalle stelle che ben esprime il radicamento nei sentimenti collettivi delle procedure pastorali presentate in questo libro.
