Cason's 90° IN THE SHADE was succinctly summarized for the 1983 reprint as "the classic examination of the character of Alabama and the South by a native son." Acquired from the estate of Dr. Rhoda Coleman Ellison (1904-2005) who taught at Montgomery, Alabama's Huntingdon College from 1930 to 1971 chairing the school's English department from 1959 to 1971 and thereafter appointed professor emerita. Ellison authored several Alabama history books including an authoritative local history "Bibb County, Alabama: The First Hundred Years, 1818-1918.".
