Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This in-depth genealogy traces the history of the Gawdy, Gaude, Gaudey, Gade, and Goudie families back to the Scandinavian Vikings and their migrations to the Shetland and Orkney Islands. From their humble beginnings, the families spread throughout Britain and Ireland, with some settling in North America, Australasia, and various regions of the world. The author combines exhaustive research into historical records, personal letters, wills, and ancient manuscripts with vivid accounts of the families' lives, loves, and contributions to society. Through exploration of family crests, coats of arms, and pedigrees, the book reveals the Gawdy and Gaude families to be among England's oldest and most distinguished bloodlines, closely connected to nobility, the legal profession, and the Church. The Gawdys in particular distinguished themselves as landed gentry, producing knights, baronets, and chief justices. The book also explores the lives of family members who went on to become renowned scholars, theologians, military leaders, and literary figures. The author's meticulous research provides a fascinating glimpse into a family's odyssey through time, showcasing their resilience and indomitable spirit.
