Remarkable collection of 37 striking photographs from LA-based photographer R.J. Shaughnessy whose subjects are the barriers in the world around us: fences, walls, posts, and pillars, each of which has been battered and broken, crumpled, dented, scratched and smudged. All of the these forms are photographed with an eye to extreme contrast, the harsh white light from a flash adding a wince inducing glare to the whites in the nighttime pictures. What is left is some kind of surreal nocturnal (or subterranean) environment of destruction and disregard, the setting for a 21st century crime scene. Limitation page numbered and signed by R.J. Shaughnessy (No. 423/500). Very minor soiling on covers. Slight age-toning along paper margin. Binding and interior in overall very good condition.

Known for his work in advertising including global campaigns for Uber, American Eagle, Nike Women, Vodafone, Apple, Mircosoft and others, Shaughnessy studied photography under Paul Jasmin at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He is known for what was deemed "Authentic Realism." All photographs included are untitled, reproduced in thumbnail format at rear. Binding with light wear along edges and lightly rubbed. Block with yellowing of pages along edges, not affecting photographs. Binding and interior in overall good+ to very good condition. Photographs fine.
