From the collection of Larry Swan with his name and address dated 1945 penned to the upper corner of the FFEP otherwise no owner marks or writing on any pages. Swan was a California scientist & climber who was on the first American Makalu expedition in 1954. The book measures 258mm tall x 157mm, and has 280 pages, index, 4 folding maps (one in rear pocket), illustrated EPs. Robert Barret was an American geographer and his wife Catherine was an American author of children's books. They traveled to many remote regions worldwide between 1913 & 1930. Robert LeMoyne Barrett was a well-known explorer and founding member of the Association of American Geographers. His wife Katherine was a well-known children's writer. A very good bright copy with minor wear to the covers and some creasing to the bottom of the spine. There is some foxing to the endsheets, half-title and last index page else the text is very good and clean. The maps are in very good condition with light wear. There are actually two copies of the map in the rear pocket of the book. Foreign postage extra on this heavy book. Inscribed by Author(s).

Barrett who founded the Association of American Geographers and traveled through the Canadian Rockies and later financed an expedition into the Himalayas.
