Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition. Stated First Printing at copyright. Beautifully signed by Stephen King and Don Robertson at title page: "1/29/88, For Brenda, Best Wishes, Stephen King". Next to this, signed by the author of this SK published title in red felt-tip: "& Don Robertson" In the introduction by Stephen King, he describes Robertson as one of the three writers who influenced him as a young man who was trying to "'become' a novelist". Fine grey-green full cloth boards, silver spine titles, light shelf wear, moderate discoloration. Thick, textured pages, near fine; front endpapers w/moderate crease, roll. Dust wrapper near fine; clipped, protected in new clear sleeve. Very attractive. Classic black and red design w/Houston map marked with black bullet holes. Near very good signed rarity in near fine wrapper. Good ol' evil is lurking in Houston, Texas. Herman Marshall was a good ol' boy until the good ol' evil began eating at him. Married, hardworking, easy-going Herman is a chang'n, and no one is safe anymore. Set in Houston - a Houston which in Robertson's hands becomes a simmering nightmare landscape -- it's the story of Herman, a retired truckdriver whose wife is dying of cancer and who is himself trying to come to grips with the fact of his own old age in a society where the elderly are discarded like empty beer cans. When anger finally bursts into flames, The Ideal, Genuine Man becomes a harrowing experience no reader will ever forget. although many may wish they could. With unusual and compelling characters from an author who may be one of America's least known and most articulate novelists. Kirkus called this chiller a "Lyrical, sentimental, sexy, and violent" piece of writing. Large 7" x 10" design. 276 pages. Insured post. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Signed by Authors.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: fine. Second printing. Octavo, 276pp. A fine, bright copy in like dust jacket. SIGNED by both Robertson and Stephen King on the title page. King has written an inscription, which reads: "For Jerry Hitt [?] (who knows about the Philtrum!) Best, Stephen King." Robertson, born in Cleveland, was a novelist who became well-known for his "Morris Bird III" novels, the first of which was titled "The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread," and later "Paradise Falls." Stephen King has stated in several interviews that Robertson is "probably" his favorite writer, and the respect and admiration he had for the writer was evident in his publication of Robertson's "The Ideal, Genuine Man" in 1987. It is known that King appeared in Cleveland at least once for a book signing alongside Robertson, as both this copy and a previous example we sold were dated 1/28/1988. We have never seen an example signed by King with quite such a lengthy inscription. As such, a very pleasing copy. An important volume for any truly completist King collector, which is sometimes unjustly unknown by even his most ardent fans.
