Duhamel du Monceau et l'abbé Nollet, nommés par l'…Académie des sciences pour examiner cette question, ont confirmé l'antériorité de sa découverte. On trouve rassemblés dans cette publication de nombreux travaux sur l'électricité, qui n'avaient jamais été publiés, une biographie et une bibliographie. Ce texte occupe les premières pages des "Actes de l'Académie nationale des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Bordeaux. 3e série, 71e année, 1909". Ce volume compte 393 pages, avec un texte sur l'humaniste Elie Vinet, par Paul Courteault (pp. 339-369). La couverture de livraison de la revue sert ici de page de titre. Ces "Oeuvres inédites de Romas" ont été plus tard remises en vente séparément, avec une page de titre : Bordeaux, Impr. C. Gounouilhou, 1911. Volume un peu déboîté, papier bruni, dos assez frotté. He fiercely defended his independence against Priestly's insinuation that he merely improved upon Franklin's demonstrations.In fact de Romas drew his inspiration from the Bordeaux prize question of 1749 which, in turn, derived from Nollet's speculations."(Heilbron "Electricity in the 17th and 18th Centuries", p. 351).
