Il en récapitule les principaux événements et désigne Louis XVI comme le principal instigateur de la répression. Il appelle à un châtiment exemplaire du roi, de ses fidèles et à l'éradication de toute trace "d'une dynastie souillée de tant de crimes". Militaire et auteur dramatique, Charles-Philippe Ronsin (1751-1794) réintégra l'armée au moment de la Révolution et y fit une carrière fulgurante, devenant en septembre 1793 général en chef de l'armée révolutionnaire de Paris. Il joua un rôle important en Vendée où il battit La Rochejaquelein. Arrêté le 25 novembre 1793 puis relâché, il fut finalement guillotiné avec les hébertistes le 24 mars 1794. Rare édition originale de cette première publication de l'auteur composée de 4 tragédies, Sédecias, Isabelle de Valois, Hécube et Polixène et Le Fils cru ingrat. Elles ne furent apparemment pas représentées. Sur le fait curieux que l'ouvrage soit imprimé au profit de la belle-mère de l'auteur, L'historien Henri d'Alméras dit qu'il croit « le fait absolument unique dans les annales du théâtre » 1. Une note contre Ronsin, de la main de Boudin des Ârdennes 2 indique : « Rabaut Saint-Étienne prit le plus vif intérêt à cet ouvrage, et ce fut lui et Pieyre l'ainé qui en recommandèrent l'avis aux journaux et notamment à celui de Nîmes. Les protestants de cette ville souscrivirent en assez bon nombre, et le produit de cette souscription fut versé dans les mains de Pieyre, lui même protestant. [.] Les protestants depuis quelques années ont pris des anglais l'usage de faire des souscriptions en faveur de ceux qu'ils veulent favoriser. Ce moyen réussit toujours lorsque leurs chefs de meutes le recommandent, et il est d'autant plus agréable pour eux, qu'il les dispense de porter des atteintes trop réitérées à la boîte de Perrette ». Charles-Philippe Ronsin, (1751 - guillotiné le 24 mars 1794), dramaturge et précepteur devenu général de la Révolution française fit représenter plusieurs pièces patriotiques dans les théâtres de la capitale entre 1790 et 1792. En avril 1792, il s'installe dans la section du Théâtre-Français, où il fréquente le club des Cordeliers. Adversaire du modérantisme, il défend devant les Cordeliers l'appel à l'insurrection des Hébertistes, avant de se rétracter. Soupçonner de préparer un complot militaire, visant à remplacer le gouvernement révolutionnaire par une dictature militaire, il est guillotiné avec ces derniers.
