St. Bedes School was a Roman Catholic preparatory school located at Bishton Hall, Staffordshire, from 1946 until its closure in 2018. The school had deep ties to Hawkesyard Priory, a Dominican house. When the Dominicans left the estate, their significant theological library, which included rare Catholic texts, was often dispersed or integrated into associated Catholic institutions like St. Bedes. A Professor of Music by trade, O'Connor served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during WWI, an experience that deepened the spiritual introspection found in his writing. His work is characterized by a 'Franciscan' simplicity and was frequently edited by his close friend, the noted Catholic priest and author Rev. H. E. G. Rope.
