Roscoe B. Fleming, "The Menace of the Little" Radio-Science Publications, NYC, Summer edition 1931. 11.5x8.5" pp 290-432 with the Fleming on pp 378-406. The great cover illustration is by Leo Morey for A.W. Bernal's "Cosmic Menace" showing, well, the Earth in trouble. Nice copy, bright cover. The issue has standard problems for these pulp magazines. Fleming's contribution falls squarely in the ET-invasion scenario, in this case by less than a millimeter tall Martians! Of course they are underestimated by Earthlings until the realization comes that the Martians can infiltrate basically everything. Problems ensue.

Colour-illustrated softcovers, cover art photos (minor scuffing, edgewear, very slight & faint tidemark to very lower edge of textblocks), still a VG- set, from the library of Stan Stueve (1910-1972), Portland, Oregon engineer, w/ mailing labels. First editions of nearly a complete run of the lavishly illustrated trade magazine for heavy equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and construction firms in Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska during the Mid-20th-Century construction boom, which resulted in year-after-year growth in public infrastructure and capital investment, including the expansion of the Interstate Highway system, hydropower dam projects, roads, bridges, canals, and much more. Launched originally in 1907 as a weekly newspaper, this industry trade magazine eventually became monthly and later bi-monthly through the 1960's. Although several institutions do have runs of PB&E in their holdings, many of the runs are incomplete, or broken, and more than the occasional individual issue for sale in the market are quite scarce.
