Salmon colored cloth with black letters on the spine. Jacket design by Carl Rose. Spine may show just a hint of fading, else near fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket spine slightly darkened, rear panel somewhat soiled, else very good and better. Robert Buckner [1906-1989] was born in Virginia and educated at the University of Virginia and University of Edinburgh. He worked as a journalist, as well as in advertising and book publishing. He contributed to THE NEW YORKER, SATURDAY REVIEW, COSMOPOLITAN, ESQUIRE, HARPER'S BAZAAR, COLLIER'S and othr popular magazines. In 1936 he began writing and producing in Hollywood for Columbia, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and 20th Century Fox. The idea for SIGRID AND THE SERGEANT evolved through a period of several years spent in Europe observing the U.S. Army in Germany. This humorous novel appears to be Bruckner's first novel.

With the publisher's original dust wrappers, 'Cheeses' being clipped.Externally, with worming to the spine head of 'Festival', otherwise remaining volumes are very smart, with mild shelf wear. Dust wrapper to 'Festival' has subsequent loss to the spine head, which has been reinforced with tape. Scattered spotting and a couple tide marks to the wrap. With similar instances of chipping to the wrap of 'Homemaking' and mildly to 'Cheeses'. 'Homemaking' has also been reinforced with tape. Sunning to the spine of 'Cheeses'. 'House into Home' is a transparent overlay dust wrapper and has a small tear to the spine tail, otherwise very smart. Internally, one plate to 'Cheeses' detached but present, otherwise firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers of 'Cheeses' and 'Festival' and the odd spot to 'Homemaking'. Contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper of 'House into Home'. Ownership bookplate tipped-in to all but 'Cheeses' front free endpapers. Very Good. book.
