Ein zweiter Block, überschrieben »Steinerne Hallen«, präsentiert die viel diskutierten «Denkmäler für den unbekannten Maler« aus der ersten Hälfte der achtziger Jahre. Archaisch wirkende Lehmarchitekturen, die Kiefer in den neunziger Jahren geschaffen hat, bilden den nächsten Schwerpunkt. Die »Kosmos- und Sternenbilder« von 1995 bis 2001 stellen einen weiteren Höhepunkt dar. Diese vier Stationen zeichnen den Weg von den intimen »Dachboden-Bildern« zur unendlichen Weite des Universums nach, gewissermaßen die Bewegung vom Mikro- zum Makrokosmos, um mit den monumentalen »Sonnenblumen-Bildern« auf die Erde zurückzukehren. Gleichsam als 5.
