"In October 2001, a few weeks after the tragic events of September 11, an international group of scholars, artists, and curators debated the issue of postmodernism in an online symposium on the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum website. The questions raised by the personal testimony and analysis of symposium participants about the nature of reality and representation, about the appropriateness of irony and cynicism in times of crisis, about the potential of culture to effect social change, about the limits of free expres-sion-were as important to grasping the social and cultural complexities of a wounded nation coping with the reality of September 11 as they were to a discussion of postmodernism." -- from book's back cover Fine. Perfect Bound (Wraps). Condizione: Near as New. First. Odd and scarce early guide to the Long Path. The cover states there are 8 maps however there are none bound-in, I have assumed they were separate or never possibly not printed. The intro states "This preliminary guide" and alludes to a hardcover version to be published at some 'future' date. I have found references to editions in; 1987 Second Edition, 1992 Third Edition, 1996 Fourth Edition, and another completely revised as the 2002 Fifth Edition. Near Fine condition, very clean with 1 very light/small corner crease. Perfectly bound in light off white/yellow stiff wrappers with a bird's-eye view of the trail under the starry curtain of night.
