Auflage, der 1958 eine 2. folgte, die ins Englische, Franzosische und Italienische iibersetzt wurde. Bereits 1959 veroffentlichten H. BARTELS, E. BUCHERL, C. W. HERTZ, R. RODEWALD und M. SCHWAB eine ausfiihrliche und kritische Beschreibung der verschiedenen Untersuchungsmethoden, die heute noch Giiltigkeit hat. In der Folge erschienen mehrere Monographien iiber Teil aspekte des Gebietes und einige mufangreichere Darstellungen, von denen wir hier nur die Werke von J. H. COMROE, R. E. FORSTER, A. B.
