Sängerin Agnes Witting. Erstdruck. - Die südafrikanische Schriftstellerin u. Pädagogin Maria (Mimie) Elizabeth Rothmann, auch als M. E. R. bekannt, (28. August 1875 Swe…llendam - 07. September 1975 ebenda) war eine d. ersten Autoren überhaupt, d. in d. Landessprache d. ehemaligen Kap-Kolonie Afrikaans schrieb und sich prägend u. in erster Linie für Kinder- u. Jugendliteratur u. -theater in Südafrika einsetzte. International hochgeehrt u. mit Ehrendoktorwürden mehrerer Universitäten versehen (sie war eine d. ersten südafrikanischen Frauen, d. eine Universität besuchten), starb sie 1975 zehn Tage nach ihrem 100. Geburtstag. - Die Sängerin Agnes Witting (1863 -1937), aus deren Nachlaß d. vorliegende Ausgabe stammt, wirkte in d. 1920er Jahren ebenfalls in Südafrika (Pretoria u. Cape Town), wo sie mit M.E.R. bekannt u. zeitweise ihre Mitarbeiterin wurde. Sie war d. Tochter d. Dresdner Komponisten, Violinisten u. Musikpädagogen Carl Witting (1823-1907) u. d. Malerin u. Jugendfreundin v. Johannes Brahms, Minna Japha, welche wiederum d. Schwester d. legendären Pianistin Louise Japha-Langhans (1826-1910) war. Über d. südafrikanischen Komponisten u. Pianisten Charles Nel (geb. ca. 1880) sind keine genauen Daten zu eruieren, er hielt sich jedoch um d. Jahr 1910 längere Zeit in Europa (München, London) zu musikalischen Studien auf, in Begleitung seiner Musiker-Freunde Jan Gysbert Hugo Bosman di Ravelli u. Lionel Meiring. Im Jahre 1922 erschien im Verlag Nasionale Pers, Bloemfontein d. v. ihm vertonte Sammlung "Afrikaanse liedere". Das hier vorliegende "Mieliedogter-Sangspiel" gilt als d. erste Komposition für Kindertheater in Südafrika überhaupt. Sprache: Deutsch.
