(cmt). A lovely bound copy of Simone Routier's journal of her last few days in Paris in 1940, as the journalist and writer flee's the advancing German troops. Her journal captures her thoughts, as Paris is destroyed by war. The contents are literary describing the landmarks, restaurants, as she remembers them as she leaves.

Ayant entendu dire que le Jean-Bart, sur lequel elle devait embarquer «offrait plutôt une nourriture de domestique», elle a finalement changé sa réservation. Elle s'inquiète de l'appartement que lui a loué Gaston Picard à Paris. «Le bon vieux docteur Grondin écrit aux miens que Montparnasse n'est pas un quartier convenable pour nous, et j'ai peur que vous m'ayiez négligée de ce choix malavisé. D'ailleurs le tort ne sera pas de longue durée, si tort il y a, puisque, si l'endroit n'est pas ce qu'il nous faut, j'ai chargé une amie de voir à autre chose. Il semble encore assez difficile de trouver - sans se ruiner du coup - avec chauffage central, l'eau chaude et froide dans la chambre [.].
