Softcover. Condizione: Very Good+. First Edition; First Printing. Complete issue of Horizon for March, 1940. Includes the first print appearance of the essay "Boys Weeklies" by George Orwell. Orwell's book "Inside the Whale", published later in 1940, was made up of three essays - "Boys Weeklies", "Inside the Whale", and "Review of the Work of Charles Dickens". "Boys Weeklies" is Orwell's review of the weekly pulp fiction stories aimed at boys and popular in the first half of the century. Orwell was particularly critical of "Magnet." This issue of Horizon also includes work by W. H. Auden, John Betjeman, Norman Cameron, Howard Evans, Stephen Spender, Philip Toynbee and others. With a painting by Graham Sutherland. In VG+ condition.
