Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Pre-University Paper from the year 2015 in the subject Learning materials - English, grade: 2,0, , course: W-Seminar 'London', language: English, abstract: Imagine walking around in London - but not seeing the ethnic groups from all over the world, with their international restaurants. Imagine London without Brick Lane Market or the various food stalls at Camden. This can't be the London that we all know, right So where does this cultural variety come from The answer lies in Immigration, which is a very important factor for life in London and the United Kingdom. Almost every British city serves as a new home for Immigrants but none quite reaches the extent of London. A statistic from the Migration Observatory in the United Kingdom from 2012 shows that Inner and Outer London are definitely the most important destinations for Immigrants in England. In the centre of London around 40 % of the population is foreign born and 24 % are foreign citizens. These numbers seem to be huge, especially in comparison with another big city like Manchester, where only 6 % of the population are foreigners.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Comparative Literature, grade: 2,7, University of Erfurt, course: Shakespeare's Race/Class/Gender Globe, language: English, abstract: The following paper aims to answer the following question in mind: Is William Shakespeare a feminist author With feminism and especially feminist writers on the rise and a newly found interest in gender studies within younger generations the question of gender critical studies of classic literary works arises. It has to be said that particularly Shakespeare's works has been a centre point of those studies for quite a time now, specifically in a context in which women are doing close readings of his work. If the book 'Women reading Shakespeare' is to be believed, women critically read his works starting in his own lifetime, up until now. But of course, the perception of his work changed over the centuries with the changing of the female role in society. A rather new definition of feminism is the one from the Merriam-Webster dictionary, which states that feminism is 'the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes'.The first chapter of this thesis intends to be a short overview about the historical frame of the plays and the role of women in general. 'The Tempest' is going to be the topic of the next chapter, with an analysis of Miranda, her speeches and how she is treated on the male-dominated island. Additionally, the absence of the (supposed) witch and mother of Caliban, Sycorax, is to be discussed alongside of Shakespeare's ideals in this play. Following the analysis of 'The Tempes't is the one of 'Henry V.' with a breakdown of Katherine's character and how she interacts with the men in the play including another look at Shakespeare's own worldview in this play. Lastly, with the help of the preceding research, follows a conclusion that aims to answer the question posed in this introduction. …

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2017 in the subject American Studies - Literature, grade: 2.3, University of Erfurt, course: Nature in American Poetry, language: English, abstract: In this paper the author concentrates on one of Walt Whitman's most important poems: 'Song of Myself' ,which is an exploration of the author himself, nature and his surroundings ,especially the symbolism of 'grass' in it.The author starts by classifying Leaves of Grass in American Literature, and to put the title of the book in context with the usage of grass in the poem. In the main part of the paper she is of course going to focus on the grass, how it is used and what it means, spanning themes of individuality, knowability of nature and ecology, also using theoretical approaches by Greg Garrard, W.J.T. Mitchell and Lawrence Buell.Whitman tries to abstractly answer those questions for himself, especially considering how frail Americans must've felt on the brink of the Civil War and over the controversy of the slave trade. The theory brought forward is that the grass in the poem symbolizes humanity and life, but also death and decay, which is in one way a stark contrast. But then again, it also makes total sense after having read the whole poem, because it all connects in the life span of a human being.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

20 pp. Deutsch.…

Neuware -Pre-University Paper from the year 2015 in the subject Learning materials - English, grade: 2,0, , course: W-Seminar 'London', language: English, abstract: Imagine walking around in London ¿ but not seeing the ethnic groups from all over the world, with their international restaurants. These numbers seem to be huge, especially in comparison with another big city like Manchester, where only 6 % of the population are foreigners.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.…

24 pp. Deutsch.…

Neuware -Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2017 in the subject American Studies - Literature, grade: 2.3, University of Erfurt, course: Nature in American Poetry, language: English, abstract: In this paper the author concentrates on one of Walt Whitman's most important poems: 'Song of Myself' ,which is an exploration of the author himself, nature and his surroundings ,especially the symbolism of 'grass' in it.The author starts by classifying Leaves of Grass in American Literature, and to put the title of the book in context with the usage of grass in the poem. In the main part of the paper she is of course going to focus on the grass, how it is used and what it means, spanning themes of individuality, knowability of nature and ecology, also using theoretical approaches by Greg Garrard, W.J.T. Mitchell and Lawrence Buell.Whitman tries to abstractly answer those questions for himself, especially considering how frail Americans must¿ve felt on the brink of the Civil War and over the controversy of the slave trade. The theory brought forward is that the grass in the poem symbolizes humanity and life, but also death and decay, which is in one way a stark contrast. But then again, it also makes total sense after having read the whole poem, because it all connects in the life span of a human being.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Comparative Literature, grade: 2,7, University of Erfurt, course: Shakespeare's Race/Class/Gender Globe, language: English, abstract: The following paper aims to answer the following question in mind: Is William Shakespeare a feminist author With feminism and especially feminist writers on the rise and a newly found interest in gender studies within younger generations the question of gender critical studies of classic literary works arises. Lastly, with the help of the preceding research, follows a conclusion that aims to answer the question posed in this introduction.GRIN Publishing GmbH, Waltherstraße 23, 80337 München 24 pp. Englisch. …
