Includes His Boyhood and Conversion. He offered himself as a Missionary to China in 1885, sailing on the S.S. Pekin to Shang-Hai. He made a long journey up the Yang-Tse Kiang to Chung-King, then an adventurous journey overland to Yun-Nan-Fu where he spent a year. Then to Chao-Tong-Fu where he married. He makes a trip to the coast and becomes ill. His widow gives an account of the death of this faithful and brave Christian Missionary. Very interesting, both for the Christian reader and also for the descriptions of China. Period Green cloth cover with bright Gilt Lettering on front & spine. Frontis. illus is a B&W Portrait of S.T. Thorne with facsimile signature beneath. 131 p. pages + list of works pub;lished at Bible Christian Book Room at the back. 7 1/2" Tall. Nice antique Presentation inscription from the Bible Christian Missionary Society, dated 1894, on ffep. No other inscriptions.
