Shephered, the author of "Sin, Suffering and God," and "The Eternity of Time," comes this accessible introduction to the life, ideas, and beliefs of the preeminent thinker, philosopher, and spiritualist, Rudolf Steiner. Rudolf Steiner was the eldest of three children of a village station-master in Austria. Having decided that his son should be a railway civil engineer, Rudolf's father sent him to the Modern School at Wiener- Neustadt, where he remained until he was seventeen. Rudolf decided upon the carreer of a schoomaster and studied at the Techincal University at Vienna. In 1884 he became resident tutor with a Jewish business family and their son Otto Specht. From 1890-97 he worked at the Goethe Archives in Weimar and from 1897-1900 edited the 'Literary Magazine' in Berlin. By 1900 he gave his full time to lecturing and in 1902 became leader of the German Section of the Theosophical Society in Berin.
