Internally fresh example of the first edition of this richly illustrated work, published again in 1916 and 1917. It details and illustrates a military exhibition held in the St. Petersburg Admiralty during the summer 1915. Its aim was to instil a patriotic spirit and encourage support for Russia's involvement in WWI, whilst also relaying the realities of the terrible conditions. The exhibition was a great success and attracted nearly half a million visitors in its opening weeks.
