Zunächst vertrat er mit seinen Veröffentlichungen neuere psychologische Strömungen, etwa die experimentelle Pädagogik Ernst Meumanns und Wilhelm Lays, die Lehren Alfred Binets oder Alfred Adlers Individualpsychologie. Vorher politisch liberal wandte er sich ab 1933 aber dem NS-Regime zu und vertrat dessen pseudowissenschaftliche Theorien von Rassenpsychologie und Rassenhygiene.
