This issue features first the "First in the Series of Startling Life Insurance Exposures", Henry Shedd Beardsley's expose of the life insurance industry, "The Despotism of Combined Millions: How the giant life insurance "combine" employs vast trust funds of policy holders in Wall Street's ruthless speculative schemes"; the second major feature of this issue is Lauriston Ward's "The Naturalization Industry", an expose on the fraudulent sale of naturalization certificates. Other items of interest include: an examination of the famous 1841 murder of Mary Rogers that includes interviews and photos of surviving witnesses; short fiction; "The Foremost Fun-Makers of the Stage" with portraits of nine comedians of the day; "Little Human Stories"; many, many advertisements.
