Ryders and Son were a nursery , seed and bulb merchants 46 or 48 page leaflet issued by Ryders of Sale, Manchester. no date given but c 1891. The uncertainty about pagination depends on how it was originally numbered. The first numbered page starts at page 8 which is the second reverse side of the preface (page 7). Before that is the contents with blank rear ie 5 and 6 Then title page 3 and 4 and then the card cover which I believe is page 1 and 2 . the outer cover is a fuller title page which is buff on the outside and I think has been stuck to the first page. This woud seem to be confirmed if the pages are followed through in the sewn section. There are 16 pages in the section with no single leaves. The same arrangement occurs at the rear of the book with an advert for Ryder's begonias on the rear cover. I have gone to some trouble to explain the pagination as at first sight it would appear as if a half title page is missing. I am convinced that this is complete.
