Aggiungi al carrelloFolio. pp. Engraved frontispiece, title page and dedication; 35 steel engraved plates only [of 38], each with accompanying letterpress. The title and a couple of plate margins are foxed. Bound in modern half calf, retaining the original cloth sides and the contemporary attractive leather title piece to the front board. Appears to be as issued by the publisher, perhaps using only the plates that remained to him. This copy lacking the view of Merton College, the Front of Exeter College and the West View of Corpus Christie. The view entitled Front of Corpus Christie is different to that in the other copy which we have seen. The plates are engraved by George Hollis after John Chessall Buckler, T. Hollis and others. They include 29 fine full page views of the city and colleges. It is a rare work with some uncommon views of the colleges to which celebrated artists like T.S. Boys, Frederick Nash and J.S. Prout made relevant contributions. Inevitably broken for its plates, its scarcity was compounded by the weakness of the publisher's binding, here restored.
