Paperback --- Summary La Démonstration évangélique est la seconde partie d'un grand diptyque apologétique composé par Eusèbe de Césarée (v. 265 339/340). Bien que ce diptyque constitue l'apolo…gie chrétienne la plus longue de l'Antiquité, il n'a jamais fait l'objet d'une étude détaillée. La Démonstration évangélique est à la fois un écrit de polémique contre le judaïsme, un prolongement de la polémique antipaïenne ouverte dans la première partie de l'apologie (la Préparation évangélique) et surtout le point culminant d'une uvre organique qu'Eusèbe conçoit comme une exposition de la doctrine chrétienne. Cette étude précise la place de la Démonstration évangélique dans les traditions antijuive et antipaïenne de l'Antiquité à travers une analyse approfondie de son contexte polémique et de son argumentation. Eusèbe innove par son projet de composer une apologie savante. À cette fin, il adapte à la polémique les méthodes et les commentaires de son maître spirituel Origène. La Démonstration évangélique est donc une uvre originale située à mi-chemin entre la polémique et la recherche, dont l'influence est perceptible chez plusieurs polémistes postérieurs.
