Trade paperback-sized, wraps worn especially with rubbing along spine, which is creased; some spots of foxing to the edges. Page 219-20, the first page of Welty's essay, is detached from the binding but in place (other individual pages might possibly come loose); first signature was detached and has been reglued. From the library of Prof. Ann E. Berthoff, her underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 25 pages in the Burke section, those of Prof. Warner Berthoff on around 15 pages of the Kermode essay, one or two other marks observed.
