Debido al gran depósito de arcilla disponible en el estado de Bauchi que se utiliza en la producción de ollas de fabricación local, hay una literatura limitada sobre el estudio de las arcillas del estado de Bauchi. En este trabajo se investigaron tres arcillas diferentes en el estado de Bauchi para determinar su potencial como revestimiento de hornos. Se recogieron muestras de tres lugares diferentes del estado de Bauchi: Gada uku, Nasaru y Gwaram. Su composición química se determinó utilizando un espectrofotómetro de fluorescencia de rayos X. En cada muestra se realizaron pruebas de resistencia al aplastamiento, contracción lineal, porosidad aparente, densidad aparente y refractariedad. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que las tres arcillas tienen una refractariedad de 13000C. La contracción lineal de Gwaram es del 10,36%, mientras que la de Gada uku y Nasaru es del 10,71% y 7,86% respectivamente. Aparentemente la porosidad de Gwaram, Gada uku y Nasaru es del 22,62%, 23,10% y 20,45%. Des tests de résistance à l'écrasement, de retrait linéaire, de porosité apparente, de densité apparente et de réfractarité ont été effectués sur chaque échantillon. Les résultats obtenus ont montré que les trois argiles ont une réfractarité de 13000C.
