Alvin Salisbury assembled this handsome reprint with the help of the Kentucky State Historical Society Museum, adding the illustrations from several sources. Written in the form of an autobiography of Boone by Filson and originally published as an appendix to Filson's DISCOVERY, SETTLEMENT, AND PRESENT STATE OF KENTUCKE (1784). This edition is from Filson's narrative as reprinted by Gilbert Imlay in his TOPOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION (London, 1797). According to Salisbury's introduction, additions were taken from the source to augment the Boon tale. OCLC 13012426. [8],35pp. plus seven folding maps and plates. Original half cloth and paper-covered boards, paper labels. Minor wear to extremities. Modern bookplate on rear pastedown. Near fine.
