Eine kontrollierbare niedrige Ladeluftte…mperatur erlaubt danach eine von der Außenlufttemperatur unabhängige Auslegung der ottomotorischen Verbrennung. Diese niedrige Ladelufttemperatur hat ein erhebliches Potenzial, den Wirkungsgrad und die Leistungsdichte des aufgeladenen Ottomotors noch weiter zu steigern. Dafür ist es notwendig, die erreichbare Ladelufttemperatur möglichst weitgehend von den Umgebungsbedingungen zu entkoppeln. Die PKW-Klimaanlage steht für die Ladeluftkühlung als bisher ungenutztes Kältereservoir zu Verfügung. Mit Messungen auch am Motorprüfstand konnte der Autor zeigen, dass trotz eingeschalteter Klimaanlage der Kraftstoffverbrauch verringert und die Leistung gesteigert werden kann.
