Half-Leather. Condizione: Near Fine. No Jacket. Senior, Frank M., Warren, Calvin H. (illustratore). Attractive early edition. Gilt page tops. Bound in half green leather with 5 raised band. I believe this is an original binding produced by the American Publishing Co. given the gilt to the top edges of the text block. Binding is in beautiful condition with just a bit of fading to the back strip. Gilt title bright with no loss. Text block tight and complete. No marks whatsoever. All early editions of this bear substantial prices, probably because it is well known for its description of fingerprinting, and because this technique is used by Twain to solve a crime. This copy has the various features that Blanck cites: the captioned frontis has 1906 as the date; 17 titles are listed in the boxed advetisement on the copyright page and 8 titles are listed under Other Books on that same page; and the list of illustrations is set in 8 total lines on the page following the copyright page.
